The Hobbits- The desolation of Smaug

Last Wednesday I went to cinema to watch The Hobbits- The Desolation of Smaug.

Overall, it was a good movie. The story picked up from the last episode, whereby the dwarves, along with Bilbo Bagggins and Gandalf the wizrd, continue their quest to reclaim Erebor, their homeland from Smaug the dragon. The story is easy to follow and my favorite part of the movie is the interaction between Bilbo and Smaug. There is so much chemistry between the dragon and the hobbit and I love love Bilbo's unique hobbit-humor. In addition, their role were played by none other than Holmes and Watson pair from The Sherlock- Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch. My favorite actors and drama of all time.

I missed Sherlock, please air the season 3 soon!!!

Anyway, check out http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/notyetamovie/news/?a=88896 for the interview of Bendict Cumberbatch on his voice over as the smaug.

Am not to sure whether its an aftermath or what, but watching the movie reminds me bits and pieces of scenes in The Lord of the Ring trilogy I watched like something 10 years ago. Mind you I have a very bad memory when it comes to remembering the storyline and characters of the previous movies which I have watched. Sometimes when I watched the sequel of a movie, I will start to question Peter like, "how come this or that character from the previous movie no longer appearing? oh he was dead? how did he die?"....

Usually Peter gets really pissed off with me when I did that.

Anyway, coming back to Lord of the Rings. Some of the things Frodo Baggins said keep on lingering in my mind for days. It was a scene at the end of story in The Return of the King when the journey and fellowship ended and everyone went back to their home. Everyone were celebrating their victory and reunion with their family members, the Hobbits were dancing and drinking, except Frodo. He seems to be disconnected from the rest of his friends and family, his life before the LOTR journey.

I can't remember exactly what Frodo said but its was something along the line that he can no longer go back to his old life nor he knows how to move on after going through such a painful yet so magnificent and life altering journey. Well, as usual, I have to google for it and this is the exact words of Frodo:
".....We were home. How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend... some hurts that go too deep... that have taken hold. Bilbo once told me his part in this tale would end... that each of us must come and go in the telling. Bilbo's story was now over. There would be no more journeys for him... save one.
My dear Sam. You cannot always be torn in two. You will have to be one and whole for many years. You have so much to enjoy and to be and to do. Your part in the story will go on."
Back then, I didn't really quite understand what is the significant of the name Bilbo mentioned by Frodo at that scene. But after watching Bilbo's story nearly 10 years after, now I finally see the connection. Bilbo was the first hobbit to embark on such a journey! They went through the same adventure that one would never imagine a hobbit would experience. They went through the same struggle and burden of carrying the ring. And at the end of the journey, both of them did not and could not go back to their old life. Strange enough, somehow I was able to recognize why they felt and acted that way. At the end of such a great journey, one will inevitably succumb into one of these two scenarios: either he spends the rest of the days living in the shadows of that journey, reminiscence those moments knowing the fact that the rest of his life will never experience the magnitude of such a journey again. Or to be overly contented with the achievement of the conquest. Knowing he is and will always be different from others, he spends his life waiting for another peak which big chances that it never comes.

Of course I never experience a magnitude of such a great event/ journey in the past 30 years in my life. But sometimes I wonder, as I'm passing the gate of "30 years old" this year, should I just leave my youthful days behind, contented with the fact that there will be no more "wild and young" journey ahead, and move on with living the life of a normal 30 years old married woman should be. Is there any possibilities that I can still achieve another heights in my life?

Anyway, its a thought for another day.

Leave you with the Hobbit theme song from Ed Sheeren, I see fire. Enjoy!

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's son

If this is to end in fire
Then we shall all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father, stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father, prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire, inside the mountainI see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you'll remember me

Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
I see fire, hollowing souls
I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you'll remember me

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns then
My brothers will die
And as the sky's falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out

Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
I see fire, hollowing souls
I see fire, blood in the breeze

I see fire, oh you know I saw a city burning (fire)
I see fire, feel the heat upon my skin (fire)
And I see fire (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

Doralin is yellow

Last Saturday night I had a good time hanging out with a bunch of drunkers. It was Raya eve, and the whole Publika looked ghostly without the usual crowd, we settled down at The Bees for dinner plus booze.

It was a chilly night, we chat randomly and drank profusely while enjoying the serene ambiance (except me and the man with diet coke). One of the privilege of being a non drinker is to see my friends talking nonsense while getting high on booze. Well, I have solid reasons for not drinking - I am the driver plus I have zero tolerance towards alcohol. I'll go dizzy the minute I touch alcohol. But beers comes secondary when you have good companions.

Hannah happy with her glass of heaven, Fuss free food at The Bees

I forgot how it all started, but we are talking about stories of Doraemon. Hannah didn't know that Doraemon is a robotic CAT. Yes, you heard me right, he is a CAT. And the bunch of drunkers insisted that Darolin is pink, but I remembered well that she is yellow. Now here comes the proof:

Told you Doralin is yellow not pink!!

And none of them knew the ending of Doraemon. Holly molly, how can someone not knowing the ending of Doraemon! I nearly cried a river when I saw the ending many years ago. Although Doraemon series seems to go on forever, but there is a fan fiction ending because the author Fujiko F. Fujio (藤子・F・不二雄) died before the manga ends (1996). So to my friend, here comes the ending, enjoy!

*Sniff*

Its funny that Doraemon still have a soft spot in my heart though it has been nearly twenty years since the last time I read it. Looking back, I used to hide at home reading the manga while other kids were playing and running on the field. I would spend every penny that I have to buy the manga and treasured it like gold. In fact, Doraemon was what my childhood all about.

And the day I stopped reading Doraemon, I finally realized I have grown up.

Apple and I

I was an anti-Apple activist for a long time ( I guess the word "was" has given away the fact that I'm no longer live up to the title). And I'm not opposing the i-series products for the sake of subversion nor am I detest the trend / popularism. Its just that I hate the fact that the craze of iphone in the early days of its release has created a distorted "iphone elite" perception whereby iphone users consider themselves a cut above the rest. If you still using a non-smart phone (yours truly), how many times have you encountered comments such as "huh, you are still using XX phone arr?", "No one is using your kind of phone anymore!!".

Many jaws had dropped into the drain whenever they find out that I'm still using my Sony Ericsson W660i till this day. Like I mentioned, I'm not defying the trend intentionally by keeping an out-dated phone. I may not be gadget savy, but I do keep myself educated with the latest trend out there, to adhere or not, its another story entirely. In fact, when the W (or walkman)-series were out in the market, it was the coolest thing happened in the mobile phone industry whereby suddenly every youngsters on the street listen to music through their phone like a mp3 player. "Walkman" is such a recognized word that many didn't realized that it is actually Sony's brand name which was originally used for portable audio cassette player. When I was still a 12 years old school girl, my biggest dream is to have a Sony cassette player, and when I finally got it at at the age of 15, I had 911's "Don't make me wait" playing to my ears 24-7.

This is 911 for you, if you never heard them before, and no its not the emergency phone number I'm talking about here

As you know, later on the walkman series of the mobile phone was born, and it redefined the music listening habits of many by allowing people to carry music with them on the lightweight phones and listen to music while they are on the move. Till this day, there is no deny on the fact that Walkman series is most popular for its sheer music quality.

So come back to iphone. Yes it's cool and the smart touch capability has become the new technological paradigm in the mobile communication, and Apple's i-series is leapfrog ahead of other competitors. However it still doesn't justify the act of some of the iphone users who think they are the upper class of the technorati just because they can navigate by touch rather than press buttons. Its delusional when some thinks that they're buying into a way of life or an upper echelon of society when they buy an iphone.

I hate the fact that if you want to become the members of a clique where people talk in iphone lingual, or play once-so-popular angry bird or fruit ninja, or instalgram every dish served on the plate, or update your facebook status all the time, the pre-requisite is to have the thousand ringgit phone in your hand. The question is do you really need an ALL in ONE smartphone? For me phone is meant for calling and sms. Even for the w660i, I no longer use it to listen to music, because now I listen to car's stereo while driving instead of listen to mp3 while taking public transport like i used to.

I do understood that this is all part of the marketing gimmicks and you can't really blame the users who succumbed into the "i"topia realm because its inevitable when the Apple pandemic are worldwide. I can only said that Apple is lucky to have the most loyal and fantastic fan any company would dream to have.

With that being said, I don't condone iphone itself, I like the fact that i-series products are intriguing, clever and minimalist, it has carved a style of its own which differentiate itself from the rest in this saturated and highly competitive telecommunication industry. I cant comment about the usability of the iphone because I don't owned one, but I will definitely comment about the ipad in my next post.

Until I see the need of having smartphone, I'm sticking with my RM500 (now should be cheaper) Sony Ericsson phone which I can call and sms. Till then.

The latest addition

These are the latest addition to our household- XDS foldable bikes.

Before transform

This is mine and Peter has a similar one, except that its black and white in color and has 8 speeds settings. Mine is only 7 speeds but I dont really give a damn as the highest I would go is 4. ;p. We call the bikes the "autobots", as in the robots-changing-autos in transformers, because when its in folded position, it can be really small, but when it is fully unfolded and assembled, tada! it transform into bikes, geddit? (why did I even bother to explain, of course you know what is autobots).

Transform!

I know it looks small and mobile but don't get fool by the look. It pretty heavy, around 12 kg. The fella really give me double dose of exercises. First, cycling, secondly carry up and down staircase. If you have been to my place before, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Its freaking 4 floors of staircase!!

It all started with Peter's friend, who is an avid biker. The fella is crazy about biking and despite of multiple falls and injuries he had, he still cycles hours every week, without fail. I don't know how it all happened but suddenly everyone in the group is into bikes, including my dear husband. Then one good old Saturday morning, I dont know how it occurred but somehow we swiped our credit card and bought 2 foldable bikes. So, dont ever underestimate peer pressure.

Last Saturday we went for cycling at Taman Metropolitan Park, Kepong. Peter's friends were all gear up wearing full biker suit and helmet, while Peter was in his flip flop. Hahaha... His friend has an Alza which can carry 4 bikes!!! 2 foldable bikes at the back compartment and another 2 fastened on the top of the car roof.  And mind you, theirs are mountain bike, which looks absolutely stunning standing on the top of the roof, under the big bright sun.

Taman Metropolitan is such a great place to cycle and I really enjoyed the entire biking experience. As you all know, the park is famous for its wide open space for kite flying activities, if you drive pass the park on MMR2 highway on Saturday afternoon, you will definitely not miss the beautiful sight of hundreds of colorful kites flying in the blue sky. However, the 95 hectares park also has a proper bike lane and interesting terrain like up/ down the hill, circling the lake, into the tropical forest, across the bridge etc. I was pleasantly surprise at how beautiful the place is. Its like a gem in the middle of the hustle and bustle of KL city.

After 3 rounds of cycling (approximately 12 km), we decided to call it a day and head for lunch. And we went to this 100 years old restaurant called Setapak Teochew Restaurant along Jalan Genting Klang which serves the best Teochew Bak Min (white noodle) in town. Oh, and the pork rolls is definitely the food to die for. I don't know whether it was the serious workout or the excessive amount of crispy lard bits in the noodles, the food somehow tasted extra tasty that day.

Anyway, it was a great Saturday, good companion, good workout and good food. Couldn't ask for more.

How many more years will you live?

Yes, mine is 51 years.

Hmm.... which makes me 80 years old by then. Well, at least my medical insurance plan covers me til 80 years old. Phew....

The logical question you would ask me is how accurate is this system. This Life Expectancy System is developed by Malaysian Statistics Department with the aim to give a description on the estimated average remaining life of the individual. The algorithm was generated based on Malaysian mortality rates using the Coale-Demeny (West) and the Brass Logit model. Please don't ask me what does it really mean. Since the name of the model sounded pretty impressive I assume that its a very sophisticated statistical analysis model.

Anyway, go ahead and try out yourself. I wouldn't say its a dodgy system.

To think about it, 51 years sound way too LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG....

Remember the Justin Timberlake's movie- In time? I wonder what would I do if I know exactly how long more I will live, like the characters in the movie.

The bigger question is how long will I stay productive?

I'm 29 this year, and I've already started to feel the effect of aging on my body. Goodbye to those days when I can stay up till 2am in the morning and still felt energetic like a bull the next day. Goodbye to those days when I can burn up all the fat by doing absolutely nothing. My metabolic rate had slow down quite a bit, I get tired more easily, my skin felt more flabby and less elastic, and wrinkles... Lets not dwell any further in this.

To think about it, I actually wish that I don't have to live that long. It will be better if I can leave this world before my body start to break down. The quality of life goes down the minute our lives get consumed by old age diseases. Hearing loss, muscle near to the point of disintegration, wobbly feet (maybe knee with arthritis), smell of rotten meat, and NO teeth.

I think i'm feeling depressed already.

I don't think I'm thinking pessimally nor I live cowardly. My definition of a quality life is fruitful, bountiful and ecstatic. Without optimal health, I will be deprived from living passionately and purposefully. And these are the very things that make us feel alive and worthy. I don't want to be just "coping" with life. It will be the saddest thing if I end up that way one day.

I dont know about you but to me, I want to stay as productive for as long as possible, the day I no longer useful, I hope that God will be merciful to me and take me away.

But still, i'm bored to death.

Not sure why but everytime i see this photo it always cracks me up.

There is only 1 person in this whole world who can play guitar like a real pro using iphone or ipad.

Anyway, am still bored.

How many days to go before i fly back to Kuching again?

Who I am today

Today its the 16th day of 2012, I came across this new song from Jason Mraz which i instantly fell in love with it.

Who I am today, Jason Mraz

I thank the boys who kicked my ass when I was 17
I thank the ones who chose to laugh and those who acted mean
I thank the bullies for body slams and accidents and then some
They shaped my life; they made me like who I've become

I thank the girls who gave a hand and showed me how to dance
I thank the ones who passed who never gave a second glance
I learned that it's okay for some to go and some to stay
They shaped my life; they made me love who I am today

I thank the captains of the boats who brave the sea
I thank the farmers for the sowing of the seeds
I thank the men who paved the roads I'm travelling on
They shaped my life, they took me down the path I've gone

I thank the volunteers for giving up their time for free
I thank the engineers; all those who keep our water clean
I thank the janitors for all their years behind the scenes
They shaped my life they taught me generosity
They shaped my life they let me see who I could be

So, i, i know, life is good

I thank the galaxy for how it made up gravity
I thank the sky above for hosting clouds to float on top of me
They gave me air to breathe and give me rain and give me snow
They shaped my life, they gave me so much room to grow

I thank the frogs, and daddy long legs and the bees
I thank the microorganisms under every tree
I thank the fertile soil for the life behind the food I eat
They shaped my life they gave me possibility
And I, I know, that life is good...
yes I, I know....

You shape my life. You make me love who I am today.

How many of us can confidently say to ourself that "I love who I am today". Sometimes, we keep on saying "How i wish i am like so and so, or how i wish i have what so and so has..". Its almost too easy to think that its better to be someone else rather than to be yourself.

Anyway, I was greatly inspired by the song. I know the message is not something new or earth shattering, however it was the right one which came at the right time.

Enjoy

New year's message on death

This is a sequel to my "Death" post.

Today's Sunday service's sermon talked about the topic related to death, I would say its pretty heavy stuff and ironically today is the first day of the new year-1/1/2012. What a start to a new year! ;) Many would think that talking about death is inappropriate during festive season. For Chinese, as you know that we are deliberately avoiding anything to do with the figure "4", as in mandarin, the word pronounced the same as "death", so its a BIG NO NO talking about death during Chinese new year, it's considered inauspicious.

However, it has almost become a strange norm that the first few days of every new year, I will receive some kind of message which is related to "death". During end of 2007, it was the first time I realized that my life is not of mine. Of course I know that no one can live forever, however sometimes we live under the delusion that we are bigger than the life itself.

Anyway, back to the story. A youtube video was shared during the sermon. It was about this 18 year old boy named Ben Breedlove. On 18th of December, Ben posted a video on youtube about his 3 times close encounters with death. In his word, he "cheated" death. He had a genetic condition called hypertrophic cardiomyoparthy, which is basically the thicken of the heart muscle wall which can lead to heart attacks. On 25th of December the Christmas day, his heart stopped.

Before he died, he left his story behind and described his personal encounters with the edge in two youtube videos. Quoted from ABC news:
"The world has come to know our Ben," it said. "He was a genius at using the Internet to reach and influence his peers. Through his brilliance with manoeuvring the capabilities of YouTube, Ben has left a message for his generation. In the weeks prior to his death, he had faced some scary situations with his health, but had been given an amazing gift that he was determined to share; first with us, his family, and then, not surprisingly (and generously) with his YouTube audience.
....His message is profound, relating his experiences or visions that made him aware of something amazing beyond this world. This is a message that some will find comfort in and others will simply not accept. It is the tangible, material world versus the unknown."
Now, if you still havent heard or watch the video, do check it out, and decide for yourself whether would you agree with the quoted comment.

As i've been repeatedly saying, death is inevitable. But still, I dont think anyone can stand in front of death and said that they are not afraid to die. For some reason, Ben make it sounds as if its ok to die. I think the point is if you have done enough in your life and when you look into the mirror on that day and felt exactly how Ben felt:
".... I couldn't stop smiling. I then looked at myself in the mirror, I was proud of MYSELF, of my entire life, everything I have done. It was THE BEST feeling."
then I guess death is ok.

However imagine, if your life has been nothing but lost opportunities, such as the other day when you saw someone is in need but you didnt lend your helping hand; or you know you should have reachout to more people but you didnt; or you have this special gift of knowing how to play music or sing beautifully, but you never really use it beyond your own personal enjoyment etc. I guess when the day came and you look into the mirror, there will be nothing but "how i wish..." list of regret and gnashing of teeth as what bible described.

I read another commentary about Ben Breedlove, whereby the writer ends the whole story with the question "does it verify God?"

Well, that's a question we should really ponder about, aren't we?

Happy new year folks.

Virtual Communication

This is a post about the communication using the virtual tools. Some people called it online networking, some called in facebook-ing, some think that its the only way to communicate, some are addicted to it, some cannot live without it. Well, i guess if you are not part of it, people probably going to forget you very soon, because you are the dinosaur of this age, and only fit to be exhibited in museum. "Oh, you are so ANCIENT!" like a 8 years old used to tell me.

And i am still the same ancient person.

I do acknowledge the importance and benefits of what these online tools can do. It makes communication faster, easier, 'cheaper', more fun and creative. And thats why i never stop blogging and forum-ing. And recently i have make a vow to myself that i'll commit more time to what i term as "content writing".

(So this is not an anti-Facebook post, gotcha!)

Content writing is a technical words whereby some freelance writer writes the right content for certain websites and getting paid by doing it. Some people called it content marketing, or copy writing, or content strategy services, but generally the more bombastic it sound, the better it is. Its in a booming phase these days and the industry which depends highly on internet marketing offers very lucrative opportunities for such profession/services. However what i aspired to do got nothing to do with this.

So here comes my enlightment. On and off Peter and I were talking about the issue of mankind, how our world had slowly turned into a place of self destruction, and how the earth which we have inhabited and colonized since thousands of years ago have become a place which is no longer fit for our next generation to grow up and to live and survive. But there are also times we talk about how great it is to have each other, to be able to visit countries which we never visit before, to have intellectual interaction, to have the intellectuality and spirituality so that we can experience deeper and broader.

I have a ball of emotions inside of me which is running wild and shooting at all direction inside of me at times. Sometimes a tiny thing happens to me (maybe just a thought, or someone comments, or even news on the tele) and though its just a petty thing but it triggers a string of emotions in me and consecutively affects my action and the way I react other people. During those moments of time, I felt like I need a channel to talk to someone, an outlet to vent these emotions, but in a positive way, so that whatever i felt didnt just go into 'waste' or left in vain.

I love the process of able to express my thoughts in words which people can comprehend and able to receive feedbacks or echoes in return. The best way to do this is through writing.

Well, is it different from blogging? yeah it is. Cuz the writing is no more focusing on myself, i'm striving to write if not a positive message, then a mind triggering piece, and publish it in a place where it will reach out to bigger crowd. And its not easy as it sounds, cuz i will write about religion, about constitutional believes, about customs, about people relationship, about society and how we conform to it etc. It involves alot of research and it will be a brain consuming activities.

I will start of with a piece which i've did recently for bible study on Christians view on suffering and tribulations. and hopefully this will further triggers many other writings. So do stay tuned.

Back to work

Its 5.25pm. I have to dissociate myself from the mounting office work for a few minutes just to ease the the growing ache in my head. The Chinese new year holiday was a bliss; but having to face the TONS of email and backlogs after being away from the office for a week is hell.

Boss was jumping at me for some documents...

Did one hour presentation to the client on last minute notice...

Head of IT was bombarding his email missile on me (as usual) as if he didnt know i am off for the whole of last week...

And i still have like 20 over emails to reply....

Yeah, holiday is over and welcome back to work.

Chris Colfer

Short one here.

Chris Colfer (Glee) wins the best supporting actor in Golden Globe Awards!

His character really stands out in the second season and i think he really deserve the trophy.

It still gives me the creeps everytime i heard his "house is not a home" and i really love the episode whereby he refuse to believe in God when his father went unconscious. Although am a christian, but strangely i can register his feeling and it sort of give me the perspective from the other side of the door.

New Year

My brain and finger refuse to cooperate as they are still in the holiday mood. I think i will resume the writing of all the draft blog next week.

New year resolution? i think am too old for that.

Just a random photo before i signed off for the week. A beautiful bouquet from Kim when he came to my place a few days before. We had a great time with my dear friends from secondary school days.

Anyway, thanks Kim!

Finally.....

Finally...
training was done and over. A class photo, couple glass of sparkling juice, warm good byes and best wishes, that marks the end of journey for IP manager training.

Anyway, time flies relatively faster in the time of busy. A few months ago we are still talking about the preparation for Eve and KL's wedding. In the blink of an eye, its done and over. Many funny and memorable incidents happened during the process and i am sure all of us will cherish the memory for a long long time. The endless walking up and down the isle during the rehearsal; the midnight decoration of the gazeebo for the garden wedding; the "chip san neong" session; the song presentation (which we forgot to turn on the mic) during the dinner reception and etc. Those may not be very significant events, however, it was the little things which made the memories even fonder.

To the dear newly wed couple, am so glad you guys had finally tied the knot, all the best to your marriege life! ;)

Gibberish

I felt gibberish today...

I don't have my phone with me the whole day, and i felt totally disabled. I have to come out with some lousy excuse whenever client told me "i called you just now, you didnt pick up the phone!".
Signal reception issue, very bad one...
Thats my standard answer. (And yes, I know its not making sense at all). But it strikes me that nowadays we are relying so much on all these digital gadget and communication tool as though our life depends on it. Take away my computer and i wont be able to work for the whole day.

I wonder how the old generation can stand the long turnaround of snail mail.

I wonder how can i live through life without a handphone as a teenager.

A good thing to ponder indeed.

...........

My body is aching all over today, i bought a new curtain for my temporary guest-room-turn-bedroom yesterday at iKEA. The no-curtain-bare-window is really getting on my nerve as the wide open window makes me felt vulnerable as though i've been watched all the time.

i was climbing high and low to put on my new curtain rods, iron the curtain and hang the curtains. The day before i had re painted one side of the green wall to lavender white. Now i really cant survive without the 5 steps ladder.

I wanted to show the photos i've taken for the new curtain and new sofa, but heck, i dont have my camera phone with me today.

.............

which bring me back to the same question, i wonder how people can survive without having a handphone.

SYTYCD S6-Star struck

Jacob is officially my favorite now!

Jacob whooo?

Jacob Karr.

Doesnt ring a bell?

Jacob Karr from So you think you can dance Season 6.

he dance like he is flying, * knees weakened *

ok, maybe SYTYCD is not as famous as American Idol. But frankly, i wasnt particularly impressed or star struck by any of the American idol contestant this year. The only thing which i remember from the most recent episode of the American idol is that there was this Reuben look alike gent (see i cant even remember his name) who sang not bad and Lambert who sound exactly like Maroon 5. Impressed? not at all.

In contrast, SYTYCD is full of 'moments'! Moments that are so beautiful that i cant seem to stop to re play the same scene again and again! The hip hop piece on 'Whatcha say' (Imogen Heap and Jason Derulo) by Jacob and Ashleigh was phenomenal. I think i re watch the dance piece at least 3 times. And the contemporary piece" Your ex Lover is dead" Choreographed by Travis wall was so touching (watch it here)

One moment i was like : "Wow, look at his leg!", "awww, thats so beautiful!", next moment i had my hand on my chest letting out long sigh ......

Anyway, i think i sounded too much like a adrenaline pumping teenage now. Better pen off now.

His departure

My sincere condolence to Sister Cassy and Raymond's family for the lost.

Although i've never met Raymond before, my heart saddened so much by his departure. Rest assured this is not an end, but a departure, of which he had left this earthy tent (our physical body) for a building which is made by God Himself.

2nd Cor 5:1 “Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands."

A skirt

I've discovered something new yesterday.

Human eyes are easily accustomed to the things we see everyday.

Vision is totally an abstraction. Our brain relates an item with the image captured through our eyes, auto tagged it and stored in our grey matter. so whenever we think of the particular item, our brain will auto retrieve the same image from the database and try to superimpose it with what we currently see.

Some people said its memory (stored in the temporary folder), i called it a perception with inherent bias.

For example,

Jane is the hermit who wears her signature THICK spectacles and hiding behind the cubicles all the time.
John is the fat guy who has a pot belly twice of a 5 months pregnant lady
Jerry is the short hyper guy who jumps while he walks, who laugh while he talks.

So what about Susan?

Well, (i think) in most of my colleague's pre conceived perception, Susan is the one who talks at the speed of light and high desibel when she is excited, sometimes walking around the office in barefoot (because tired of wearing the high heels), always wear dull monochromic suit, very un lady like (hence prefer pants over skirt), even if she is wearing a skirt, is most likely a knee length formal cut black skirt.

Overall she is average lah.

Until yesterday...

When she walked into the office, the boss looking at her with expanded pupils, and started laughing non stop. When he was finally able to catch his breath and gain his composure, he said: "Susan you look like a school girl today."

Throughout the entire day, she received funny stares and comments like "Susan you look young", "Susan you are wearing...."

Whats the fuss is all about!

People getting excited all over because i'm wearing ..... an A line ruffle skirt ..... (-___-)'''

Am totally confused.
