Life in a fast lane

In another 46 hours, this is where i'm going to land- ShangHai.

Psssss.... Any tips on what to see and eat in Shanghai??

Sometimes, my family asked me, how on earth do i fly here and there. Well, the answer is i don't know. Probably i'm the best person to go for such business trip as i am both well versed in scientific/technical background, and own a business title, or i am just pure lucky, or...... unlucky, it depends really, on how you look at it. Forget about tourist sight-seeing and shopping, distanced but short business traveling wears you out easily.

Once the plane touch down, whats usually awaiting for me is not the lady in hula skirt, but some middle aged businessman with pot belly, and a complete itinerary in hand. 2 days slipped away silently while you are stuck in boring meetings room, or transiting in taxi rides or in hotel room preparing for next presentation. Once a while looking out the window of great scenery outside, wondering how great it will be to just step out and join the tourist crowd. So most of times, my colleagues and I will compensate ourselves by eating the local delicacies as much as we can. Well, at least food is something which is never lacking in business trip, especially in a place like Shanghai i guess.

Tasks after tasks, meetings after meetings, trip after trip. It can be exhaustive at times. When i am working on some tight timelines project, people usually said that i become someone else. I'll get lost in the laptop for 18 hours straight and i'll drown myself in stacks of documents. Not good enough, i'll perfected; more requirements, i'll deliver; tighter timelines, i'll run around like a roadrunner, but still, in excitement.

then i move on to the next task... I guess i am like that.

Peter asked me sometimes, will i opt for a less hectic job and settle down some day? i said yes, when the day comes. I am not sure by that time, will i miss this life which is always in the fastlane, will i lost in translation, will i eventually lost the efficeincy, task oriented me.... But i know that for whatever i lost, there will be so much more to gain. For now, i will keep on walking anticipatively and looking forward for whats life has to offer.
